Downtimes (18-22 April)

Workaline went offline on 18th April, 21st April and 22nd April. The reason behind these downtimes has been now fixed and this shouldn't happen again. Sorry for the inconvenience!

For anyone that's interested what was the exact reason - it was due to database misconfiguration and log files getting very big and taking up all available server storage. It was misdiagnosed in beginning which resulted in multiple downtimes instead of just one. Well... lesson learned.

Performance Improvements

We've just improved Workaline page load performance. It's now faster and much more consistent.

workaline-page-load.png

Workaline.com page load time was a long-standing problem related to server setup (basically - the server that contained website was also doing other demanding tasks that essentialy blocked the website at that time).

It's now improved and the server doing high intensive work is now separated from server serving the website.

Best,

Workaline Team

Downtime (05.12.2018)

Workaline was unavailable for the last couple of hours. But it's up again now. Sorry for that!

Dark theme preventing eye strain

Hi! We've just passed 20K listings! ๐ŸŽ‰ For this occassion we've made some improvements to Workaline.

First one is redesign into this new sleek dark theme. It's now easier for your eyes when you're browsing in the evening or night *.

Second one is improved listing content styling a little bit. Its now much more visually structured and easier to read.

We hope you like the new changes!

Cheers,

Workaline Team, Dominik + Gyuri

* While we would love to have switchable night & day theme, we unfortunately don't have time & resources to maintain multiple color themes, so the new dark theme is the only one default color scheme & uncheangable.

Problem with some job sources

Hi,

For couple of past days Workaline had certain technical problems and some of the job sources were not properly published. This resulted in lower number of listings than usual. This is now fixed and things are back to the way they were before. Cheers!

Company Logos!

Hi ๐Ÿ‘‹

Just a quick update: we've just added company logos to Workaline listings. We hope you'll like them!

Best, Workaline Team.

New Jobs Source: Hacker News

Hello!

Just a quick update: we've recently added new source for the listings - jobs from "Who is hiring" posts on Hacker News.

๐Ÿ“ง Email digest and other goodies!

Hi! ๐Ÿ˜˜

This updates adds two major features โœจ. First one is Facebook Login & Signup. I don't think I need to say anything more about it. And the second feature is the Workaline Digest...

It's a periodical ๐Ÿ“ง email sent to you with the latest remote listings. You can configure it to send you all recent listings or filtered by your queries. It can send you listings every hour, day, half a week or a week.

There are also lots of other changes and improvements added in this update ๐Ÿคน.

Changes since last update

  • โœ… Added Facebook Login & Signup.

  • โœ… Added Workaline Digest.

  • โœ… Added indicator if the listing was visited or not.

  • โœ… Added listings day separator. Listings will now be separated by date they were published.

  • โœ… Updated topbar with some nice emojis and better styling =)

  • โœ… Fixed & Improved responsive styles for mobile phones and tablets

  • โœ… Fixed & Improved a lot of other small things

Happy job hunting! ๐Ÿš€

New design and improvements!

Hello!

To introduce new features faster we've been hard at work past couple of weeks at updating our internal codebase. And while doing that, we took opportunity to refresh Workaline design a little and work on some other things.

Changes since last update:

  • Refactored internal codebase.
  • Introduced server-side rendered pages (which mostly means that users will be able to see page content faster on slower connections like on mobile phones and Workaline will be more optimized for search engines like Google).
  • Added initial user accounts (still work in progress, though).
  • Refreshed general site design (to be more light).
  • Refreshed "Collections" page styling.
  • Refreshed "Resources" page styling.
  • Added new collection "Electron".
  • Integrated internal server error reporting tool, which will allow us to know faster about any server errors encountered by users (and fix them faster).
  • Fixed WeWorkRemotely.com listings not updating (they changed their links, so you may sometimes see 404 - we're still working on that).
  • Fixed Jobspresso.co listings not including details like payment, location and employment type.
  • Removed annoying onboarding overlay.
  • Removed newsletter signup (you can now create account instead)
  • Moved annoying Android app notification to top bar.

Stay tuned for more to come!

New Feature: Keywords of Interest (beta)

You just found kickass remote job of your dreams. But wait... There was a fine print in the listing which said "US Only" ...and you live somewhere in Europe. This made your day just a little bit worse.

This is why we're introducing new feature called "Keywords of interest". They search through the listing content to find keywords like: us only, no visa sponsorship, you must be located in ..., eligible to work in usa, etc.

If any of these keyword is found then the "bell" icon shows up on the listing. Hovering over this icon will show list of keywords with the surrounding context.

Have in mind that this feature is still in beta phase and will be further improved and polished
