πŸ€— Happy International Translation Day, dear friends and colleagues!

Today, hundreds of thousands of translators all over the globe celebrate the International Translation Day.

Whenever you are in the world we hope that on this day you’re not glued to your screen, working on another urgent project.

We wish you a lot of success and we hope that your professional life will be rife with new opportunities, exciting projects and terrific clients who respect you, appreciate the work you do and, of course, pay you handsomely. πŸ™‚

Since The Open Mic is a blogging community for translators we decided to publish an article that celebrates this incredible profession.

We reached out to the members of our community and asked them one simple question: "What does being a translator mean to you?"

Check out the article below and don't forget to share it.

Hugs and high-fives from Toronto!

πŸ”ˆ We fixed the missing Facebook share counts on post

We noticed recently that the total share count of articles published on The Open Mic didn't include the number of shares on Facebook which was a bit misleading.

We resolved the issue and now the Facebook counts are back. It might take some time to rebuild the cache for older posts, though.

If you're a an author on The Open Mic and you noticed that some of your stories do not display correct share count for Facebook you can easily rebuild cache of your post by adding the following element at the end of your post's URL in browser:

?swp_cache=rebuild

Like this:

https://theopenmic.co/post-name/?swp_cache=rebuild

Or you can always open a support ticket and we'll check your share counts for you.

βš™οΈ Site maintenance September 26, 2017

Howdy friends!

This is just a quick announcement that we'll be doing some site maintenance today, on September 26, 2017.

In a very unlikely event of bugs and issues, please report them on our support forum. Thank you so much in advance and sorry for any inconvenience.

πŸ”” Forum email notifications are now enabled by default

We had this weird bug on our forum when new members would sign up to start a new thread or leave a comment, but wouldn't receive any email notifications about new replies by default.

Well, not anymore. When you join new discussions or start a discussion yourself, you'll get very handy email notifications so you could know when someone replies to your thread or mentions you by name.

This, of course, can be easily disabled in your forum account settings.

πŸ“± The forum is now a lot more stable on mobile

Howdy friends!

We pushed another update to our forum and it should now work a lot better on mobile devices.

Previously, you may have encountered a few bugs where you had to manually refresh the page whenever you were opening a new forum thread on mobile.

We managed to address this issue in the latest update. So now you can join the discussions on the go! How cool is that?

Check it out.

βš™οΈ We fixed the Facebook login button on our forum

Happy Sunday, friends!

Just a quick update to let you know that we fixed an issue with a Facebook login button on our forum.

For some reason it redirected you to a blank page with internal server error. Well, not anymore! Now, you can easily login with Facebook and join the awesome forum discussions that are happening right now.

πŸ‘©β€πŸ’» You can now log into forum with your Open Mic account

This is a big one!

As you probably know, we use open source software on our forum. And although we love open source, the technology we use is still in beta.

One of the biggest challenges was allowing our members log into forum with their Open Mic accounts. By default, you had to create a separate forum account and it was a bit confusing to say the least.

Now, all you have to is click Log In in the upper right corner and then Login with WordPress and you'll log right in.

Here's a quick gif to give you a better idea how it works:

Pretty neat, isn't it? 😍

Anywho, now nothing will stop you from exploring our forum! Come join the discussion! It's a lot of fun!

πŸ’ͺ We just pushed our biggest code update!

Howdy friends!

After several days of exhausting testing on our staging website we have finally pushed probably our biggest code update yet.

This update largely covers the performance and security and should also cover some of our most annoying bugs.

It will also lay the foundation for future integrations and developments.

Of course, even though we've relentlessly tested everything in our staging environment, it doesn't mean that it's error-free. So, please, stay vigilant and report any bugs or issues via our Support System.

Thank you so much in advance!
