πŸ‘©β€πŸ’» We fixed the Facebook share count bug

Howdy friends!

So, we had this annoying little bug that would set Facebook share counter to some random number when you published your articles on The Open Mic.

Which was a bit weird and confusing. I mean, you just published an article and all of the sudden it got hundreds of shares on Facebook!

We fixed it now, so hopefully you won't see it again :)

Happy Birthday, The Open Mic! 😻😻😻

Howdy friends!

2 years ago we finally launched The Open Mic publicly after several months of development. We had quite a journey in the past year with so many achievements that I don't even know where to start! We have just surpassed the 3,000 registered members mark. I think it's an incredible accomplishment, and I'm truly grateful to each and every member!

Thank you so much for being a member of our tiny translation family. I hope you really enjoy using our platform and find it useful.

I'd also like to give a shout-out to our amazing volunteers, donors, and sponsors who make The Open Mic possible.

We've achieved so much together other the past year. The launch of The Open Mic for Clients, accounts for translation agencies and project managers, winning Proz.com's Community Choice Award, a massive re-design of our home page - are just a tip of an iceberg of hard work that we put into this little community on a daily basis.

Thanks again for being a loyal member of this community, thank you for sharing your comments, for writing blog posts, thank you for participating in our forum discussions. I can't wait to see what else we will build together next year!

P.S.: If you'd like to wish us a happy birthday, the best way to do it - is by spreading the word about our community and inviting everyone your know to join. ;)

Hugs from Toronto!

~ Dmitry!

πŸ€— Happy International Translation Day, dear friends and colleagues!

Today, hundreds of thousands of translators all over the globe celebrate the International Translation Day.

Whenever you are in the world we hope that on this day you’re not glued to your screen, working on another urgent project.

We wish you a lot of success and we hope that your professional life will be rife with new opportunities, exciting projects and terrific clients who respect you, appreciate the work you do and, of course, pay you handsomely. πŸ™‚

Since The Open Mic is a blogging community for translators we decided to publish an article that celebrates this incredible profession.

We reached out to the members of our community and asked them one simple question: "What does being a translator mean to you?"

Check out the article below and don't forget to share it.

πŸ”ˆ We fixed the missing Facebook share counts on post

We noticed recently that the total share count of articles published on The Open Mic didn't include the number of shares on Facebook which was a bit misleading.

We resolved the issue and now the Facebook counts are back. It might take some time to rebuild the cache for older posts, though.

If you're a an author on The Open Mic and you noticed that some of your stories do not display correct share count for Facebook you can easily rebuild cache of your post by adding the following element at the end of your post's URL in browser:

?swp_cache=rebuild

Like this:

https://theopenmic.co/post-name/?swp_cache=rebuild

Or you can always open a support ticket and we'll check your share counts for you.
