Scientific Numerical Answer Entries Avaliable

New entry type for numeric input questions is avaliable, you can force test taker to give their answer in scientific, numeric or in both options, even score the test taker for if they enter normalized scientific answers.

Entry Options

sc,entific2.PNG

  • Numerical Entry; For better understanding of valid/invalid values, please check format options below for this entry notation option
  • Scientific Entry; By selecting strict mode option, the answer will be expected in In normalized scientific notation form, the exponent n is chosen so that the absolute value of m should remain at least one but less than ten (1 ≤ |m| < 10). By choosing force strict mode option any entry other than normalized scientific notation will beconsidered as invalid and scored with zero point. if force strict mode option is not selected you can give positive or negative score to test taker if the answer is in normalized form or not.
  • Numerical or Scientific Entry; Test taker can choose the notation entry type by herself/himself

Sorting the questions after fetching from Question Bank

You can now sort questions after fetching from the question bank.

It is important to understand that the system will sort only the questions that have been fetched. You can adjust the number of questions to fetch through the page length property. If you set the page length as 500, a maximum of 500 questions will be fetched and then sorted accordingly.

You can sort questions by

  • Reporting name
  • Question Text
  • or a tag

If you choose to sort by a tag and the tags have values of type number, the system will try to sort by ascending order. In all other conditions the system will sort alphabetically.

Displaying custom content when the test is over & completed or the task's step is consumed

Before starting an online test students and/or candidates can be given instructions.

Instructions are very helpful in the sense that users have prior information about what waits for them.

With the latest release of the exam software (v. 8.0.17), you can now setup a custom content which is going to be displayed when a step of a task is completed (aka. consumed).

So just like instructions which is shown before starting a test, you can now setup a content which is to be shown after a test is complete.

Rename a tag of multiple questions in the Question Bank in a single update

You can now rename a specific tag of multiple questions in a single update operation.

Suppose you have 5 questions; each having the "topic" tag like below:

  • Question 1 > Topic: Math
  • Question 2 > Topic: History
  • Question 3 > Topic: Math
  • Question 4 > Topic: Geography
  • Question 5 > Topic: History

If you want the rename the tag name (which is "Topic" right now) with "Subject":

  1. Start with selecting all these question in the question bank
  2. Click on "Update All" button at the top. Make sure that the number of questions you've selected matches with the number you see inside the "Update All" button.
  3. Select "Rename a tag" among the mass update operations.
  4. Write the current tag name ("Topic") in the first text field.
  5. Write the new tag name ("Subject") in the second text field.
  6. Click on the blue "Update All" button. Again, make sure the number next to this button shows the number of questions you are willing to update.

That's it! The question bank software will go through all the questions you selected and rename the relevant tag.

A final note: If there are some tags that you want to keep but do not help you when filtering the questions, you can rename the tag by putting an underscore ("_") at the beginning of the tag name. You will continue to have this tag inside the question, but the question bank will offer you to filter questions by this tag any more. That's a good idea if you store some specific values like an external Question ID etc. inside a tag. Who wants to filter questions by a unique value?!
