Hey Clever Community 😀
Today is July 31st, and today is special because Facebook will enforce your Page to be approved for the Subscription Messaging before you can send Broadcasts of that type.
Again, to prevent confusion 😕, Subscription Messaging Broadcast is 1 type out of 4 Broadcast types. To make this even clearer, we're pushing a new update to the Broadcast Page.
Please read this entry in full, as this is the definite answer to Broadcasts and should clear out any confusion surrounding this subject. 👇
You're now able to choose from 4 different broadcast types:
✅Non-promotional - If your Page doesn't fall in the Subscription Page categories (News, Productivity, and Personal trackers), then you can use the Non-Promotional broadcast type by further specifying your use case with the help of the message tags.
See a full list of available Message Tags here:
(You also see this inside Clever Messenger when you're about to select them.)
✅Subscription - If your Page falls in one of the categories News, Productivity, and Personal trackers, then chances are, you need to send Recurring Non-Promotional Broadcasts to your subscribers and therefore you need to apply for the subscription messaging permission for your page.
What to do if I'm not approved for Subscription Messaging?
If you are not yet approved for Subscription Messaging, you can always by-pass it by starting your message with anything related to this Non-Promotional category. You simply match the right Messaging Tag with the content you want to send.
Or even better, just start your Broadcast Flow with a message that has buttons, like; Quick Replies, or some sort of invite to get engagement from your subscriber. 😉
Because the moment they reply, tap on Buttons or Quick Replies you provided, subscribers become 'Active'. And as of that moment you are actually able to send any content to that particular subscriber , including promotional content.
To ask approval for Subscription Messaging:
Replace 'yourpagename' in the URL with Your Page Name, and look for something like this:
On this page you find instructions on how you can get your page approved. Do note, it will look different for you if you're not yet approved. If the latter is the case, you will NOT see the green check mark.
✅ Promotional - Promotional broadcasts can contain ads and promotional content, but can only be sent to subscribers who talked to your page in the past 24 hours, so make sure to always keep your subscribers engaged to get as much freedom as possible in the content you can send them.
✅ Follow-up - After the end of the 24-hour window, meaning 24 hours after a subscriber last interacted with your bot, then you still have an ability to send "1 follow up broadcast" to these recipients. After that you won't be able to send them ads or promotional messages until they interact with your bot again.
To summarize the above:
Clever Messenger now has 4 types of Broadcasts. Subscription Messaging approval is needed ONLY for Non-Promotional Broadcasts that fall under the specific use cases mentioned above, respectively: the categories News, Productivity, and Personal trackers.
This means any other Non-Promotional Broadcast can be sent with the Non-Promotional type without any restriction or approval needed.
To send Promotional content, you can use the Promotional and Follow-up Broadcast types to reach your active subscribers with any content you want.
And finally, you can alway use the Sponsored Messages via Facebook Ads with the help of our JSON generator tool. This way you reach all your subscribers anytime with or without promotional content. Without having to make your subscribers 'Active' first.
Final thoughts: 💭
Some of you guys will probably ask about tips on how to get your Page approved for the Subscription Messaging. We simply see a lot of talks about it all over the Messenger groups.
What we want to recommend is to simply follow the recommendations and steps provided by Facebook itself.
Because no-one can give better advice in this case than Facebook. Other people claiming they 'know' the answer is just a fugazi, it's fake news! 😉
When it comes to getting approved for things on Facebook. Just do what they recommend. Just be honest in the description you put in, make some clear use cases, and keep trying until you are approved! 💪
Clearing out Misconceptions 🤔
This means you don't have to Pay to Play. Another common theme we've been seeing popping-up in other Messenger groups. Yea, you can use Sponsored Messages, and you do have to pay some small cents, which, by the way, is definitely worth it... But, you don't have to! 😀
Another misconception is that Broadcasts will be completely removed from Messenger. Again, wrong. This came to be after the mention of the coming removal of the Broadcast API in the next few months.
In simpler words. Facebook is putting the load on Messenger Bot providers, they need to develop their own Message Distribution Infrastructure. Since we at Clever Messenger never used the Broadcast API, you've been already using a state-of-the-art Message Distribution Infrastructure. 🤩
This is good news for us too, as it's really hard to create something like we have, and it will get rid of a lot of 'crappy' tools currently polluting the market.
That said. We can't wait to see how you guys will use this.
On to the next one. 🙃
Thanks again for your continuous support, looking forward to hear your feedback! 🙏🔥
