πŸ‘‰ ANNOUNCEMENT: Broadcast Update

cm-broadcast-update.png Hey Clever Community πŸ˜€

Today is July 31st, and today is special because Facebook will enforce your Page to be approved for the Subscription Messaging before you can send Broadcasts of that type.

Again, to prevent confusion πŸ˜•, Subscription Messaging Broadcast is 1 type out of 4 Broadcast types. To make this even clearer, we're pushing a new update to the Broadcast Page.

Please read this entry in full, as this is the definite answer to Broadcasts and should clear out any confusion surrounding this subject. πŸ‘‡

You're now able to choose from 4 different broadcast types:

image (14).png

βœ…Non-promotional - If your Page doesn't fall in the Subscription Page categories (News, Productivity, and Personal trackers), then you can use the Non-Promotional broadcast type by further specifying your use case with the help of the message tags.

See a full list of available Message Tags here:

πŸ‘‰ https://developers.facebook.com/docs/messenger-platform/send-messages/message-tags

(You also see this inside Clever Messenger when you're about to select them.)

βœ…Subscription - If your Page falls in one of the categories News, Productivity, and Personal trackers, then chances are, you need to send Recurring Non-Promotional Broadcasts to your subscribers and therefore you need to apply for the subscription messaging permission for your page.

What to do if I'm not approved for Subscription Messaging?

If you are not yet approved for Subscription Messaging, you can always by-pass it by starting your message with anything related to this Non-Promotional category. You simply match the right Messaging Tag with the content you want to send.

Or even better, just start your Broadcast Flow with a message that has buttons, like; Quick Replies, or some sort of invite to get engagement from your subscriber. πŸ˜‰

Because the moment they reply, tap on Buttons or Quick Replies you provided, subscribers become 'Active'. And as of that moment you are actually able to send any content to that particular subscriber , including promotional content.

To ask approval for Subscription Messaging:

https://www.facebook.com/yourpagename/settings/?tab=messengerplatform

Replace 'yourpagename' in the URL with Your Page Name, and look for something like this:

Screenshot 2019-07-31 at 11.35.40 AM.png

On this page you find instructions on how you can get your page approved. Do note, it will look different for you if you're not yet approved. If the latter is the case, you will NOT see the green check mark.

βœ… Promotional - Promotional broadcasts can contain ads and promotional content, but can only be sent to subscribers who talked to your page in the past 24 hours, so make sure to always keep your subscribers engaged to get as much freedom as possible in the content you can send them.

βœ… Follow-up - After the end of the 24-hour window, meaning 24 hours after a subscriber last interacted with your bot, then you still have an ability to send "1 follow up broadcast" to these recipients. After that you won't be able to send them ads or promotional messages until they interact with your bot again.

To summarize the above:

Clever Messenger now has 4 types of Broadcasts. Subscription Messaging approval is needed ONLY for Non-Promotional Broadcasts that fall under the specific use cases mentioned above, respectively: the categories News, Productivity, and Personal trackers.

This means any other Non-Promotional Broadcast can be sent with the Non-Promotional type without any restriction or approval needed.

To send Promotional content, you can use the Promotional and Follow-up Broadcast types to reach your active subscribers with any content you want.

And finally, you can alway use the Sponsored Messages via Facebook Ads with the help of our JSON generator tool. This way you reach all your subscribers anytime with or without promotional content. Without having to make your subscribers 'Active' first.

Final thoughts: πŸ’

Some of you guys will probably ask about tips on how to get your Page approved for the Subscription Messaging. We simply see a lot of talks about it all over the Messenger groups.

What we want to recommend is to simply follow the recommendations and steps provided by Facebook itself.

πŸ‘‰ https://developers.facebook.com/docs/messenger-platform/policy/page-subscription-messaging/

Because no-one can give better advice in this case than Facebook. Other people claiming they 'know' the answer is just a fugazi, it's fake news! πŸ˜‰

When it comes to getting approved for things on Facebook. Just do what they recommend. Just be honest in the description you put in, make some clear use cases, and keep trying until you are approved! πŸ’ͺ

Clearing out Misconceptions πŸ€”

This means you don't have to Pay to Play. Another common theme we've been seeing popping-up in other Messenger groups. Yea, you can use Sponsored Messages, and you do have to pay some small cents, which, by the way, is definitely worth it... But, you don't have to! πŸ˜€

Another misconception is that Broadcasts will be completely removed from Messenger. Again, wrong. This came to be after the mention of the coming removal of the Broadcast API in the next few months.

In simpler words. Facebook is putting the load on Messenger Bot providers, they need to develop their own Message Distribution Infrastructure. Since we at Clever Messenger never used the Broadcast API, you've been already using a state-of-the-art Message Distribution Infrastructure. 🀩

This is good news for us too, as it's really hard to create something like we have, and it will get rid of a lot of 'crappy' tools currently polluting the market.

That said. We can't wait to see how you guys will use this.

On to the next one. πŸ™ƒ

Thanks again for your continuous support, looking forward to hear your feedback! πŸ™πŸ”₯

πŸ‘‰ ANNOUNCEMENT: Global Fields

cm-globalfields.png Hey Clever Community πŸ˜€

We've created a new feature called Global Fields. This allows you to store chatbot data and set values depending on your subscriber’s actions.

They look like Custom Fields but can store values which are related to your chatbot, i.e.: texts, numbers, formulas, date and time πŸ’ͺ

We also have a List option coming soon which allows you to keep lists in your Global Fields. Which is great for example coupon distribution and when you have limited coupons available. πŸ™Š

Global Fields are much more than just a way for you to store information.

Here are but a few examples of what you can build with it:

βœ… Coupons - Track the number of coupons you distribute in Messenger and notify yourself when they run out.

βœ… Track Attendees - Track webinar/event attendees and get notified as soon as there are less than 10 spots left.

βœ… Decrease the numbers - Decrease the number of products left in stock by 1 each time someone makes a purchase in your bot.

βœ… Bot Ratings - ask your subscribers to rate your chatbot and easily keep track of these ratings

More ways to make it yours?

Next to the above examples, Global Fields are great with the coming Template Feature. Because it can be used as a Glorified Custom Field! πŸ”₯

See, imagine a Template you'd like to distribute to clients in the same niche. And in this Template, you have multiple Flows which contain information about where your client's business is located.

Now, instead of going through all these Flows manually updating the address for each client individually... you now only have to replace the values set in the Global Fields once - and the values get updated across the entire chatbot.

In short, this speeds up bot building. Which means you can get more done, in way less time. That's cool, right? πŸ’‘

Global Fields can be found in the Automation section:

cm-globalfields-2.png

The image above show you the Global Fields manager. This is where you get an overview of all your Global Fields. You see the Name, Type, Value, Description and you have Actions.

Creating a new Global Field is easy:

cm-globalfields-4.png

When you've clicked on Create New, the above modal opens up where you can setup your Global Field. In the above example we went with a simple Company Address of a well-known social platform.

Use and Find Global Fields everywhere:

cm-globalfields-3.png

You find the Global Fields Tag under the 'User Icon' where you also find your Personalization Tags and Custom Fields πŸ˜‰

Global Fields can be manipulated with Action Cards:

cm-globalfields-5.png

The Action Card has 2 new features:

βœ… Set Global Field Value - This actions sets the Global Field value. You can fire this action in based on user behavior

βœ… Clear Global Field Value - This action clears the Global Field value

Global Fields have full Segmentation Support:

cm-globalfields-6.png

You can also segment your audience based on the Global Field value. Giving you better targeting options while sending broadcasts, and more to play with when using it in conjunction with Condition Cards.

That said. We can't wait to see how you guys will use this.

On to the next one... Templates. πŸ™ƒ

πŸ‘‰ ANNOUNCEMENT: Profile Image Tag

cm-profileimagetag-new.png Hey Clever Community πŸ˜€

We've added the ability to use the Profile Image Tag. This allows you to magical things with Profile Image of your subscriber. 😎

This tag allows you to control the Profile Image of your subscriber. When Clever Messenger is doing it's thing, The Profile Image tag will return the link to the image of the subscriber interacting with your flow.

Here's an example on how you could use this:

βœ… Personalized Coupon with Picture - Imagine a Flow that shoots out an image. This image shows your Facebook Profile Image, your name, and a coupon code. I mean, wouldn't you be intrigued? I would!

Find the Image Profile Image Tag everywhere:

You find the Profile Image Tag under the 'User Icon' where you also find your Personalization Tags, Custom Fields, (and soon πŸ˜‰) Global Fields

πŸ‘‰ ANNOUNCEMENT: Image Card Update

cm-imageuploader-new.png Hey Clever Community πŸ˜€

We've changed the Image Uploader in the Image card and put back the ability for direct links to be used. This opens up some cool capabilities. 😎

Here is what it will get you:

βœ… New Image Uploader - Next to a smoother uploading experience you now also get more data on for example the size of your Image when successfully uploaded, or information on why the Image was denied if and error occured.

βœ… Direct Image Links - you can now (again) put any direct image link or GIF into the Image Card. This can originate from your server, dropbox, or any other place where you're serving your images from.

You can now use Dynamic Images like this:

Screenshot 2019-06-20 at 10.39.19 PM.png

Resulting in this:

65364122_1196590157212832_3950687515031109632_n.jpg

Some things we think you need to be aware of: πŸ‘‡

Please note that if you put in a direct link, Facebook needs to download the Image separately each and every time a subscriber engages in the Flow containing the Direct Image Link.

This slightly lowers the speed on which the Flow is being send out. So, make sure you're aware of this when applying delays. πŸ’‘

However, if you upload an Image to Clever Messenger directly it uses the Facebook CDN, which serves your subscriber the images remarkably faster. But, there's no way you can utilize this with Dynamic Image approach. πŸ€”

We hope this clarifies it a bit! πŸ˜€

Thanks again for your continuous support, looking forward to hear your feedback! πŸ™πŸ”₯

πŸ‘‰ ANNOUNCEMENT: Embeddable Button!

cm-embeddable-button-stm.png Hey Clever Community πŸ˜€

We are excited to announce a πŸ†•widget type to the Send to Messenger capture tool, which is the Embeddable Button widget type!

Here is what it will get you:

βœ… Ability to insert the Send to Messenger button anywhere on your web page, that gives you much more flexibility and control.

βœ… All submission events and capture capabilities by the previous types are also supported by the Embeddable type, for example, you are still able to redirect your subscriber to a new page or completely replace the Send to Messenger button by a custom button on submission. Additionally, you are able to trigger a custom flow along with capturing URL parameters and attaching tags.

Thanks again for your continuous support, looking forward to hear your feedback! πŸ™πŸ”₯

πŸ‘‰ Announcement: M.me Link Parameters

cm-mmelink-parameters.png Hey Clever Community πŸ˜€

We're announcing a new feature that has been requested by you, unveiling the M.me link parameters. πŸŽ‰ A lot of you wanted to pass data back to your flows from your M.me links, and that's something we grant you today!

Here is what you can do with it:

βœ…Set custom field values inside your m.me links: Simply by appending them to your link and separating different custom fields by the "--" separator.

For example, if you have the following M.me link:

https://m.me/192871308182704?ref=CMxImyaovvjV15758 and want to pass both the email and phone custom field values to it then you simply add --email=emailvalue&phone=phonevalue, your link becomes https://m.me/192871308182704… (you can try this link, it's live).

βœ…Set tags inside your M.me links: Simply by appending the tags parameter to your link separated by the "--" separator, multiple tags need to be separated by commas.

For example, if you have the following M.me link:

https://m.me/192871308182704?ref=CMxImyaovvjV15758 and want to attach tagA and tagB (--tags=tagA,tagB), your link becomes https://m.me/192871308182704… (you can try this link, it's live).

βœ…Set both custom fields and tags inside the same m.me link: Simply by combining both examples above.

For example, if you have the following M.me link:

https://m.me/192871308182704?ref=CMxImyaovvjV15758 and want to pass both the email and phone custom field values and also attach tagA and tagB to the mix (--email=emailvalue--phone=phonevalue--tags=tagA,tagB).

That said. Thanks again for your continuous support, looking forward to hear your feedback, happy linking!

πŸ‘‰ ANNOUNCEMENT: Randomizer Card

cm-boxofchocolates.png

Hey Clever Community! πŸ˜€

Another day, another feature. Announcing the Random Path Card. πŸ”€

This new card allows you to choose random paths you want to send your subscribers on. It can be used to send different messages on your default reply, for example: "I didn't understand what you mean", then on the next message "I'm sorry, can you try again?".

Basically, this is making your bot appear more human! πŸ€–πŸ€–

Here's how it looks on the canvas:

Screenshot 2019-05-23 at 4.45.36 PM.png

It can also be used to run contests where you can chose one random winner, of course there are many uses cases for the random path card that we are looking forward seeing in your bots. πŸ”₯

The random path card comes with the following features:

βœ… Weighted approach - we don't just randomize your paths, but give you the ability to set the weight for each of your random paths. That means if you want to pick a winner out of 1 million entries, then you will just have have to create 2 paths, one with a weight of 1 and one with a weight 999999.

Of course weights can also be used as percentage, for instance if you want something to happen 1% of the time, then you set two paths, one with 99, and one with 1, easy peasy. πŸ’ͺ

Adjusting weights is simple to do. Just open up the card and change the numbers. In the example below we use an equal distribution.

Screenshot 2019-05-23 at 4.46.05 PM.png

βœ… Dynamic weights - Instead of predefined weights that you set manually inside your random path card, you can actually use weights you get from Custom fields or Air variables in case your random path weights change all the time or need to be pulled from remote web services. 🌐

βœ… Up to 10 paths - you can have up to 10 random paths per a single card, but if you need more you can always link a random card to another, that gives you 20 paths, and you can do that as many times as you want. πŸ”—

That's it for now!

Thanks again for your continuous support as our customer, looking forward hearing your feedback. That said, happy randomizing! πŸ™

The Clever Messenger Team

πŸ‘‰ Announcement: Split Test Card!

cm-splittestcards.png Hey Clever Community πŸ˜€

We're very excited to announce a new card to the Flow Composer... πŸ₯...πŸ₯... This card is the Split Test Card πŸ”₯

The Split Test Card enables you to create A/B split tests inside your Flow. This means you won't have to guess anymore which flows or paths are most effective! πŸ§ͺ

Because we like to take things to the extra mile, we made the A/B split very flexible with the following features.

βœ…Weighted approach (instead of a percentage): That means if you want an event to happen once every 7 visits on average, then you won't have to do mathematical operation to get the right percentage (which will also not be possible in some cases). You will just have have to create 2 variants, one with a weight of 1 and one with a weight 6. What's cool too is that you can use weights as percentage if you like to do so. How easy and flexible is that? πŸ’ͺ

βœ… Dynamic weights: Instead of predefined weights that you set manually inside your split test card, you can actually use weights you get from Custom Fields or Air variables in case your variant weights change all the time or need to be pulled from remote web services, how dynamic is that? πŸ€–

βœ… Up to 10 variants: We know there are some gurus out there who are keen on testing everything with different approaches, and we have allowed up to 10 variants per a single split test card, how cool is that? 🎯

Note that when a certain subscriber goes through one of the Split Test card paths, this subscriber will always go through the same path again, this behavior is meant to guarantee meaningful results for your tests.

For complete random paths every time, use the Random Path card. This will be released tomorrow. 😎

Thanks again for your continuous support, being an amazing community, and we're looking forward hearing your feedback! πŸ™

πŸ‘‰ Announcement: Duplicate Cards

cm-duplicate-cards.png Hey Clever Community πŸ˜€

This will drastically speed up your bot building because you can now build your Flows even faster!

Sometimes you just want to re-use a specific card, alter it slightly, or just build on top of it. Previously, you had to set up the entire card from scratch again. But now, you simply duplicate the card and start building.

Take a look:

cm-duplicate-cards.gif

We've done a test on a Flow we were building for the templates. And we literally cut the time in half.

Will it do the same for you? We think it will! ❀️

Thanks again for your continuous support, being an amazing community, and we're looking forward hearing your feedback! πŸ™
